Hi Everyone!

I'm Charlene. I'm so glad that I have found this eco forums. I'm so excited to share and learn some new stuff here. I know that our seasons are indeed in turmoil and it's so sad that we need to experience all of these before we start to realize that we can do something to preserve Mother Earth. :)

Cheers,

Charlene

Hello all!

My partner and I are working on a project called EcoJaunt. We are travelling around the states for one year visiting communities, individuals, and urban projects who are making sustainable practices a priority. From these travels, we have/are creating an enormous website (EcoJaunt.org) filled with FUN educational how-to type of videos that we hope will inspire and empower people to start making more sustainable choices in their lives.

We appreciate any feedback on our site and also ideas on locations anyone may know about that are doing new, innovative things!

Hope you laugh at least once out loud checking out our videos ;)

Cheers`

Hello All,

I am fairly new to this forum and thought I might introduce myself. I am a building energy rater and run the business Green Rate in Melbourne.

I perform the mandatory 6-Star Energy Ratings for proposed new homes, prior to building approval. I also provide the equivalent in the commercial building arena, which involves the preparation of a Part J Report (also known as a Section J report).

The purpose of these assessments is to ensure that new buildings are designed and constructed to minimise the amount of energy they will need to artificially heat and cool. In addition, new to the BCA regulations in 2011 are certain provisions for efficient design of artificial lighting and pool and spa heaters and pumps.

When designs are brought to us for an energy rating and they do not meet the minimum requirements for energy efficiency, it is our job to put forward a range of options and recommendations for changes to the design and/or specifications. This usually involves addressing areas such as insulation, glazing, building sealing, lighting, and shading.

These are the various building energy reports that we provide:
- 6-Star Energy Rating
- Part J Reports (Section J Reports)
- Deemed-to-Satisfy Reports
- FirstRate 5 Reports

If anyone has any questions in relation to energy ratings, section j reports, or energy efficient building design, please don't hesitate to send me a message - I am more than happy to assist.

Hi, I'm from Hong Kong.  We are losing green because of city growth.  In my childhood, about 40 years ago, Da Hua Bai pigs were in every farm.  20 years later, they have been in danger of extinction because they are no longer saleable.  How many species die out because of our growth?

Yep I agree - if it were easier to understand just how to get your electricity onto the grid without the need for a middleman then we would all be making cash!
