So Chambliss soundly trounced challenger Jim Martin in the Georgia senate seat runoff yesterday, by about 14%. This means the Republicans now hold 41 seats to the Democrats' 56 (plus 2 independents who caucus with them). Franken/Coleman is still too close to call in the Minnesota recount.
I'm kind of bummed about this, mostly because I think Chambliss is a dick. Back in 2002 he was running for the seat vs. Max Cleland, a war hero who lost both legs and his right forearm in Vietnam. In one ad, Chambliss compared Clelan to bin Laden and Saddam Hussein.
So I was really hoping he'd lose this time. But alas, it was not to be.
Still, Franken has a good shot to take the Minnesota seat. I've been a Franken fan for a long time, since he wrote some great books like Rush Limbaugh is a Big Fat Idiot and Lies and the Liars Who Tell Them.
