I have really hard water also. I saw so much information from both sides saying that it does work or it does not work at all many without conducting a test and just offering an opinion. I am a Mech. Engineer and have been in industry for 25+ years. I did some research and found out that Superior Manufacturing has been at this for almost 50 years with testimonials on their web site. I know that companies cannot stay in business complexly by scamming people so I decided to contact them. I spoke to a person by the name of Chuck who was very very honest and told me straight up that a water softener would do a better job for what I wanted (No scale on counter, shower door and faucets as well as a coating on the dishes from the dish washer) However I love the way the water tastes and did not want to change the taste nor deal with changing chemicals. So with a 90 day return policy I decided to give it a try. Now 90 days later I wish I could say Wow but I cannot. I still get coating on my dishes (although quite a bit less) but it looks as if my scale problems on the faucets have gone away and I still need to see on my shower door although I believe this is less to. For me I would go this route again. My main worry was my new granite counter tops and if I could not use a scale remover on them because it would ruin the counter tops. Now it appears as if I have solved that problem so if I had to do this again I would buy a Magnetic unit.
