XP Vehicles is interesting. They are boasting the safest, longest range electric vehicle in the world. What's better, they have banded together a world changing team to develop the next generation of transportation for the US.
After reading through the information about the XP Vehicles (2-seater Runabout and 4-seater Mini Utility Vehicle) I am definitely interested. These are actually fuel cell electric vehicles. Now I don't know much about this technology, in fact I tend to have a chip on my shoulder regarding hydrogen fuel cells. They spend more time bragging about safety than explaining the actual energy process, but from the nice picture, I have determined that you have a battery pack and hydrogen pack, both of which have drawers that can be swapped and charged so there doesn't have to be a wait if you're empty. It also seems that they are proposing you generate your own Hydrogen at home with water and solar energy.
They are making easy swap capabilities for extended range driving much like Better Place is proposing for the BEVs. You can also have the fuel sells swapped by mail like Netflix movies.
As I said, my knowledge of Hydrogen is slim to none, but I assume if you are able to create it using solely renewable energy and even on an individual residential basis, it might work.
The other interesting part, is they are developing a team (Giant Leap Mission Team) much like the NASA team from Apollo 11 to help speed along the process and development of technology. I think it is interesting and a good idea to get everyone to work together with a common goal.
What do you guys think? (About the concept and the team)
