San Francisco Green Festival (and Good Hotel)

This weekend is the SF Green Festival, at which Huddler has a booth.  Since I'm not too far away geographically, they asked me to come down and check it out, and put me up in the Good Hotel, which is an eco-friendly hotel in SF, and asked me to review it.  I've got about an hour to kill before the festival starts, so I figured I'd do that.

It's a really cool hotel.  The rooms are a bit small, but sufficient.

Every light fixture appears to have a CFL - good start.  Plus the bedframes are made from reclaimed wood.  Very cool.

In the bathroom there are no little shampoos and soaps - just refillable dispensers and also low-flow fixtures and toilet.

And my favorite part of the whole room - a Sink Positive!  I was stoked.

Really nice light fixtures made out of recycled Voss glass water bottles.

And nice ceiling fans too.

It even had a waste basket made out of 100% post-industrial plastic.

The one thing that seemed out of place was that each room (I had 2 because I thought some people were coming along with me) had a fairly big flat screen TV.

But overall definitely the coolest hotel I've stayed at.  They put a lot of thought into reusing and recycling materials, and there are little notes all over the place reminding people to conserve as much as possible.  Thanks for putting me up here, Huddler!

Now I'm off to the festival where I'll take some more photos and talk about it tomorrow.

I'm kind of bummed that I will be in SF 2 days too late for this event. Oh well... I already have a place to stay, but I'm definitely checking this hotel out next time I'm in town. It looks fantastic! Even though, who needs a big fat TV anyway?

Yeah I was super excited when I saw the Sink Positive.  I have to admit, I made a bit of a mess because I had trouble keeping the water in the little sink.  It might take a bit of practice :-)  And the Voss light fixture thing was very cool.  Another of my favorites.  But yeah, big TVs were a bit odd.  Like the Sesame Street song - one of these things doesn't belong.

Yeah, that's unfortunate eris.  The Green Festival was very cool! I'll post about it after we get back from the farmer's market this morning.

So the green festival was really cool.  They had every green thing you could think of from food & drink to solar panels & wind turbines to magazines & books to clothes & baby stuff to websites & browsers to conscious investing, etc. etc.

Here's the Huddler booth with stins and deej.

And here are a few overview shots of the festival.  It was huuuuuge.

Can i just say -- simply because it's on my mind -- that Sink Positive is the best invention EVER and there is no reason why every toilet shouldn't use one!!  It's really so intuitive/easy and water-saving...yea Sink Positive.  :)

YES it was huuuuuge!  I spent some time there on Saturday, and it was basically overwhelming -- in an awesome way. There were so many booths with so many different types of things: natural soaps and elephant dung paper...organic mattresses...every kind of food imaginable...natural fabrics and clothing...plug-in hybrids...conflict-free diamonds...everything!!

great to meet fellow greenies.. really fun weekend.  anyone else attend???

Well, Green Festival is over, and goodness, three days of standing gets long!

Overall, Green Fest was a great time.  We talked to a ton of really awesome people and got to check out a bunch of fun green products (and taste a lot of them).  It was very fun to have dana1981 come down.  kragen, lola, sean, and magdalenac all stopped by to say hello.

Part of our booth was pretty low-tech...in that it was a white board.  We had folks write up their favorite green products.  We had everything from "life" and "the human soul" to "anything vegan" to "Tesla Roadster."

Well the last post had spammy links which sucks BUT in a way it was worth it because this is a thread I hadn't seen before and it's awesome. All your pics are so cool Dana 1981 - I know it's past, but very neat to see anyhow.
