South Africans catching up with EVs

South African EV coming soon...My boyfriend is from South Africa and much of his family still lives there, so I like to keep an eye on the news there.  I had to chuckle a couple of weeks ago when I read about their first annual solar car race.  Apparently the police were unaware of the race and proceeded to pull over the participants and question them as to where they were taking all of the solar panels.  But this recent news is great!  They have plans for their own EV known as the Joule (at least this is the first I am hearing about it).  It is a 6-passenger car with 2 Li-Ion packs which charges from a 220v outlet for 7 hours and you get 400km (nearly 250 miles)!  That sounds pretty awesome to me!

The Joule should appeared in the Paris Motor Show last month and plans are already being developed for the location of the plant and the first fleet purchases by local cities...see more.

Yeah I vaguely recall hearing about that.  Very cool to see EV development in other countries too!

That's awesome!  The Joule is actually quite cute.

I have to admit...when I read the name, I thought it sounded familiar.  But the car I was thinking of is the Microjoule.  And it looks something like this...

Just a little different...
