CNN has an article on a new system called BlueCool, which lets truck drivers keep their cabs cool without idling their engines. Most trucks currently spend many nights idling, especially during the summer, so that the drivers can sleep in the cab and run the A/C. Currently, this uses about 2400 gals/fuel per year per truck, according to the article.

The $5500 BlueCool lets drivers turn off the engine and use what is basically a pre-chilled block of ice to keep the cab cool.
