It's not much, but one has to wonder what a whole forest could do....

How about these artificial trees too!  Can you imagine?  No windmills, no solar panels, just what appears to be a tree in you yard soaking up all the wind and solar energy available!  Technology continues to amaze!

A London-based startup called Solar Botanic announced yesterday that it has designed lifelike artificial plants and trees that harvest the power of the sun and the wind. The key to the company’s claim is its Nanoleaf— a supposed energy-capturing powerhouse.

The Nanoleaf contains photovoltaic and thermovoltaic cells that capture the sun’s energy, as well as voltaic twigs and branches that create electricity whenever they are stretched or compressed by the wind.

that sounds amazing.  especially if they really do look lifelike and might blend in...  i do wonder how much electricity they might be able to actually generate.  also, any word on when they might be available?  even a prototype?  i'm a little pessimistic about how realistic all of this is (especially because of the dearth of real numbers that seem to be available).

here's a pic from the article...
