For those of you unfamiliar with West Coast Green, it's a pretty cool event. For three days in the Bay Area, hundreds of exhibitors from all walks of green building, design, and sustainability come to show their goods. From solar installers to the makers of recycled glass countertops, from sustainable landscaping to LED light bulbs, there is some great stuff to be seen.
Did I mention that Deej and I both volunteered before hand for conference set-up? Deej moved a ton of bamboo and set up these cool chairs and benches made from cardboard building blocks called Bloxes...
I put together these little planter things and did some landscaping grunt work for the showhouse - and yes, there was an entire two-story house set up in the conference tradeshow. Complete with water fountain, outdoor kitchen, rain barrels, and all.
At the conference, we got to chat with some good folks from Mariah Power (and saw their cool model of the Windspire)...they're looking to ramp up production significantly in the next few months which is very exciting....
....we talked to the makers of the Brondell dual flush retrofit upgrade and the Swash Ecoseat bidet (it's kind of amazing how much water and paper and energy is saved with those two devices)...
...we got to check out some of the pre-production Geobulbs from C.Crane (and got some updates on the bulbs)...
...we got to see two of the guys from Village Green Energy (and Matt took an action shot with their window decals)...
...and we got to take a look at a cool electric scooter (which I had never heard of actually) from ELV Motors (and I made a ridiculous face...)...
All in all, it was a fun day poking around looking at all the cool stuff going on in sustainability. For those of you in the Bay Area, Saturday is homeowners day. I definitely recommend checking it out.
