What was the pivitol moment, in your opinions

A friend of mine and I were talking about how it's so great that the green movement is really in full swing and that it's just growing and growing.

What do you think was that lightbulb that finally clicked with the general population?

I think it's got to be An Inconvenient Truth.  So many people saw the film, and it made them aware of global warming and our environmental impact in general.

I think it was when gas prices and food prices started rocketing...think that the dent it made in consumers' wallets really focused their attention on alternative energy.

Yeah, it's definitely a combination of things, because conceptually there isn't a TON that's entirely new. We've had defenders of the environment forever. My Aunt had a little store in our tiny home town of Belleville, Ontario called EcoMart in the early 90s, that ultimately didn't work out because she was so far ahead of her time.

I am kind of inclined to agree with Lola though...the old political adage, "It's the economy stupid." When it's actually inconvenient (pun intended, ha) not to be more conscious, behaviors start to change and people more actively seek solutions.

While I agree the green movement is growing and the high cost of energy is probably the driving force. I still believe the green movement isn't something that the majority of the general population subscribes to.
