Energy Trend for Appartments

Hi guys,

I just found this article on so called greenerators http://www.trendspotting.com.au/2011/03/07/energy-from-your-balcony and am thinking of getting one for our balcony. We live in Melbourne, Australia and I was wondering if any of you have actually got any experience with these turbines? Are they really working or is this science fiction stuff still?

That device is kinda weird, but seems functional to me.

Maeby I'll try in my home :)

It's definitely functional. I emailed the designer and he told me that they have installed it in several hundred homes already. Anyhow, let me know how you go with this one. :-)

Never seen this before, but it looks cool! In the US, specifically Colorado, solar gardens are popping up. You buy a panel in a large solar farm and get credited for producing solar energy at your home. Its a nifty idea. Especially if you live in an apartment or shady area.

I don't think I can open your link.

This devise is an ideal size for apartments, condos, houses, businesses...  whatever!  Is this or anything similar available, still in the prototype state, or is it too low power producing?  I haven't seen anything like it in CA..

How much power does it produce?  And will it be tied into the apartment's grid, if so what does the landlord say?

I like the design and looks like a good opportunity.

I asked about this small wind genererator and its availability on Facebook.  I am not pleased with answers I got- mostly informing me of these being renderings or one-of-a-kind models.  A few test models maybe; but not over-the-counter availability - yet.  Sounds like this generator is on the exact track of those nice renderings of electric vehicles in the late 1990s and early 2000s that dried up and vanished.
