A neat way to upcycle old wine barrels

I was at a county fair recently and along with the homemade preserves, cakes, and quilts, the fair had a furniture contest for local folks to show off their skills and vie for a ribbon. One of the furniture pieces really caught my eye. Not only was it a beautiful rocking chair, it was made from old wine barrels! Needless to say I had to take a picture and share it. Now I just need to learn how to make one myself!

What a great idea. I have seen a lot of recycled furniture recently. Think it's beginning to become on trend, probably helped by the difficult economic climate too! Thanks for sharing.

For some reason the photos aren't loading =( sounds like a great idea though.  I haven't been able to find any barrels for no or low cost.  I'd love to have a few as planters, lamp tables, and I'd even like to get my hands on them to collect gutter drainage from rain so I can attach a hose from the bottom with many holes to run along my garden so i can automate watering .....
