Get On Your Bike!

I'm surprised that biking is not generating that much interest here.  I think it's the greenest way to travel.

Bicycles are the ultimate clean air, zero emissions vehicle. Bikes are practical, economical, low-maintenance, and non-polluting. They have no exhaust emissions, no evaporative emissions, no emissions from gasoline pumping or oil refining, and zero carbon dioxide or other greenhouse gases that contribute to global warming. Bicycling also means less water pollution (many people don't realize that motor vehicles are a significant source of water pollution as well as air pollution). And, bikes are quiet, so they don't contribute to noise pollution.

So get on your bike!

Almost seems like an uphill battle for me.  I have ridden trikes since 1976.  Human Power Vehicles are usually considered toys or hobbies, and if used for serious transportation; then all sorts of nonsense about not paying for roads begin.  Then come all that nonsense about bikes/trikes being imported, then those polluting shipments/assembly/maintenance.

People in this town who are ecological about transportation become "greenies"; usually get linked to anarchists or a questionable  bicycle shop that shares the same building.

Annoys me so much that I have to go on a long trike ride to settle down :D .

For anyone that wants the exercise but needs some transition to get back to the fun of biking, an electric bike is the way to go.  My husband and I started selling electric bikes a year ago and I'm biking nearly everyday to work.  It's a blast, I peddle as much as I want and throttle at 20 mph.  I can actually get to work faster than driving on most days.  If you are interested in seeing whats available, visit our website at www.electricpeddler.com  We offer 5 different companies and well over 20 bikes, both with throttle and peddle assist.  The great part about electric bikes is they are considered bikes, no insurance, no endorsement, no license needed.  Order from us, we ship direct and no sales tax because our business is in Oregon.  The Electric Peddler motto...."Get Your Throttle On!"

Sorry to sound so pessimistic- I am not at all!  The following letter was in the Santa Cruz Sentinel yesterday, and was repeated today.  Uninformed "Dunderheads" like this just keep spewing nonsense unabated:

slave made bikes brought in on polluting trucks-trains-or cargo boats-bikes made with toxic processes-and if made in China-bikes made in very toxic (No osha) factories with slave labor.

at least buy yer bike US made n quit harping on the car drivers-not all of us can bike to work-(bikes create more fossil fuel use then they save-fact not fiction)

the FOOD you burnoff was likely grown n shippied-using fossil fuels.

them anti car freaks make me vomit..........i drive a hybrid-but aint self rightous about it-some people need huge trucks for work etc....)

I sure hope the bicycle business gets around the "Yep Yep Yep" crowd of followers to this (lack of) thinking!

There will always be critics.  But hey, as long as you know that you're doing the right thing, you should be fine.

Besides, biking offers a lot of benefits, not just for the environment.  Sadly, some cities make it almost impossible to use a bike for everyday transportation.  A bike lane can solve a lot of problems.

Thanks goodness we all have free choice.  For me, an electric bike has enabled me to ride again.  No matter where it was made, I know that I'm doing less polluting in my own community by not driving and purchasing gas.  What's good for me won't be what's right for everyone.  I realize that.  Keep pedaling.

Bike riding is a wonderful way of going green, not to mention the health benefits. But as someone else said, if you live in a major metropolitan area, it can be downright dangerous.  For me, I am lazy, gonna check out that electric bike more that is listed above. At first glance seems sorta expensive but....

Bikes are excellent. I prefer conventional bicycles to electric ones, because I've never been satisfied by the battery life on an electric bike. Plus with a normal bike, you get more exercise and stay in shape. It's especially nice since in my city, recently almost everywhere there have been bikes lanes built on almost every main road, making cycling to work a much more viable option. Still, I never see anyone doing it. Swiss Replica Watches Replica Watches Replica Watch Rolex Replica Watches
