We actually discussed James Cameron's hit film Avatar here before. Most of Green Options community felt the eco-aspects of this movie were overrated, but many other people around the web thought the movie was too focused on green issues.
Now however, Cameron is hoping to make an actual difference by planting trees. Working with environmental organizations in 15 countries, Cameron is hoping to plant one million trees around the world. In the U.S., trees will be planted in New York, L.A. and San Francisco to improve air quality and animal habitat.
The U.S.-based group Trees for the Future will be working with farmers in Haiti as well in order to plant about 500,000 fruit trees to provide both environmental and economic benefits.
This sounds a lot better than the green hype surrounding Avatar.
