There's a rockin' post at Lifehacker about minimalist living along with a link to this little gem - Minimalist Living: 100 Things I Don't Own. It got me thinking about the things I don't have in order to keep it green around my own house and make me wonder what other people also do without.
Here are some things I live without simply because I don't like the eco-impact...
- Paper towels.
- Paper napkins.
- Bottled water - I have a reusable water bottle.
- More than one TV - we have one, but most people I know have them in almost every room of the house - that's such a material waste!
- Red meat + pork
- A mattress - right now we're using a super old futon mattress because it's been hard to find a great organic mattress. For now we're living without, but honestly, hopefully we find one soon.
- The perfect conditioner. I have curls. I would LOVE to buy some chemical charged, works awesome and slick hair conditioner, but the organic advocate in me won't allow it :( Until someone gets their you know what together and makes a wonderful organic hair product I'm sticking with organic olive oil.
- Fabric sheets.
- Bleach.
- LOTS more.
We try to live with what we need (and some wants) vs. ALL the wants around here. What are you living without?
