What is your take on Environmental Labels??

Hi,

I'm new to the board but have been reading up without being registered. For my first post I wanted to talk about a topic that I have given much thought to lately:

Environmental labels have been around for a while from what I can gather and they cover a range of different categories of product and services. It seems there are increasingly more labels coming out. Because it seems so popular i decided to look into it a little. I have read online guides and blog posts that give a somewhat generic overview of eco-labels, and that is ok I guess, but I wanted to see what the members here think and how they see these labels now and in the future.

Looking forward to your thoughts,

Vick

They don't mean much. You really have to read the fine print. Natural on many

labels doesn't mean it's good.

I saw a plastic bottle -bah- of green tea with the word "healthy" on it's label.

Reading the ingredient label showed 36% sugar.

First ingredient was high fructose corn syrup. Hardly healthy.

What I have found in the stores, in general, is brands that don't have slick

packaging (plain paper wrappers) seem to be better, and have more information

on the packaging.

And we have to educate ourselves with this. Why buy shade grown coffee

if you don't know what it means?
