Ok so I’m new on here but I’ve been a part of the green movement for awhile. When I found this web site I was so happy to find blogger just like me. But enough of my introduction, lol. I found this company recently and wanted to know if anyone has heard of them. There called Melaleuca and I guess they are an all green company. The lady told me they don’t use and harsh chemicals that there products are 100% natural. They've got it all. They have over 300 products ranging from cleaning supply to personal care products. They even have vitamins and stuff like that. I was thinking about signing up for an account and seeing how it all works. It could be a really good thing! Well let me know if anyone has heard of them and if so what you thought!

Welcome to Green Options Penny.

I'm pretty darn sure that Melaleuca is a pyramid scheme though. I'd avoid them.

Source - some private parties who tried to work with them and countless warnings online.

I've been a Melaleuca customer for over 6 years.  Love the products, don't think the company is MLM or pyramid at all.  It's been a great experience for me!

Well just an up date. I decide to go ahead and work/be a preferred customer and so far love it! I love the products. They don't seem at all like a MLM scheme. If any one one else would be interested in signing up I could help you sign up for an account. They have a 100% money back guarantee.

Melaleuca pays on a multiple level system which makes them, by definition, an MLM. But while I think it's insane to get involved with pyramid schemes, this forum is not about pyramid schemes so I'll let it go.

I have heard of Melaluca but I am a Norwex fan.  I tried the Microfiber Enviro cloth and Window Cleaning cloth and loved them so much that I bought into the company and sell them myself.  Actually, My mother is a breast cancer survivor and my son is studying to be a holistic nutritionist and we have totally detoxed our home.  I found Norwex and was immediately a fan.  I used the cloths on my patio door and my husband walked right in to it (no joke!)  Bathroom mirrors are a breeze and they work great on my marble counter tops (we have to be careful what we use on marble and the cloths with just water work great!)  Hope this helps.  You can check Norwex products out at www.simplycleanandgreen.com

I would agree that Melaleuca is by definition an MLM.  However, I have been buying products for the last year and a half and am in no way selling or trying to sign people up.  For me, it is more like a membership at costco, that allows you to buy products at a discount.  I love most of their products, the cleaning supplies in particular.  Their disinfectant is amazing and I love their flushable cleaning wipes that I can feel safe giving to my son to use for his "messes" in the bathroom   The packaging is very minimal and the products are very concentrated.

I’m with you on loving the products and not having to worry about them hurting our kids. By the way they do have a promotion going on this month, their membership fee is only a $1 this month, and that’s good for a year. If your interested feel free to go to this Website and one of their representatives will give you a call and tell you more.

I am a member of Melaleuca and what everyone is saying about the products is true. You basically are switching stores and buying those necessities from Melaleuca, which by the way are a much higher quality than what you get at Walmart and they are safer for the environment and your health. Hey guys. I've been a Melaleuca customer for over 2 years. They ARE NOT Multilevel Marketing. They began that way in the 80s until there was an old lady who spent her husband's death dispersement to "buy into" the company, just like other MLMs. She then had a garage full of products she got when she "bought in" and she couldn't get rid of them AND had no money. Many MLMs make their money on the people who try out their "promises" by "buying in", then get stuck with it....not very sustainable! Then, she approached Frank Vandersloot, who was raised very blue collar and is still the CEO of the company, and he decided Melaleuca would not follow that typical, pyramid scheme kind of model. They do Consumer Direct Marketing, and are THE ONLY ONES who do it. It is why they are steadily growing, even still, after 25 years.

Their model of Consumer Direct Marketing is along the lines of everything they do that is green...it's sustainable. So, the only requirement to make commission is that you're already a customer. I became a customer simply because I wanted green products, not to make money. After a year, I referred a friend who wanted to know what I was always getting shipped to my work, and was also interested in green products. I never had to "buy in", or take her orders, deliver to her, etc...., which is the way you advance to different "levels", which you then have to maintain in MLM. I simply helped her set up her own account to shop directly, and she does so on her own, but I get a commission every time she shops. I no longer work with her, so I hardly ever see her or speak to her anymore, but because she continues to shop on her own I still get commission, even though I've only referred a couple other close friends and family.

I love this because I not only feel good about going green, but I also am able to help others close to me do the same, and even receive a little bonus every month they shop, without having all these restrictions and requirements of running "a business".

I was a preferred customer since 2007 and compared to most available products found they were the best in quality and price.....

Until a far greener company came along and I find the products work even better...

The products are in smaller containers so your paying for even less water to be shipped!!

No proprietary blends that you cant see the ingredients either

I found  only green  www.onlygreen.com/greengoodness The products are labeled with far fewer ingredients many of them organic and now I am totally won over!!

I join everyone in loving their products - been a preferred customer since June 2005.  I love that I receive all of my household items (cleaners, detergents, vitamins, makeup, first aid items) directly to my door - I can even plan out my orders in advance.  The laundry detergent is super concentrated so I only have to order that maybe 4-5 times a year.  The children's vitamins are great as well. My children remained healthy through this terrible cold season.  Its something about their vitamin formulas that help people better absorb the nutrients.  When you sign up as a preferred customer you get a % back so I've received over $300 in free products.

Just because a company is MLM doesn't make it bad.  You don't have to become a distributor to buy or use the products.

Amsoil is a great MLM and was one of the first companies that figured out how to refine oil to give you better gas mileage and longer engine life.  Now there is competition, but there are still some specific Amsoil products I buy.

I have been using Melaleuca vitamins for 9 months and they have affected me in a positive way.  Melaleuca has helped to lower my blood pressure and I minimize my knee & back pain with the Replenx.  I mixed the oil into some sugar as per scribed & fed it to my honeybees.  We'll see how they come through the winter.

The cleaner may be "green" but it doesn't work as efficiently as Snow Bowl for the well water that produces rusty sinks, showers & toilets, but it might be fine for people on municipal water.

Melaleuca may be an MLM, but I've purchased great products from other MLMs in the past.  AmsOil & Shaklee sell good products

Melaleuca has some good products- vitamins, shampoo, tee tree oil to name a few.

I like SCJohnsons shaving cream & Shaklees soap products better.

I mixed tee tree oil into powdered & fed it to my honey bees last fall and didn't lose any of my hives this last winter.

I feel better with Melaleuca vitamins and especially the "Replenix" for my knees.

Social Security is a pyramid or Ponzi scheme.  How can I get out of that?

I have been in Melaleuca for 3 months now.  I really like most of the products & I have a great support team here & If you join look me up I will sign you up & I will help with support if you are looking to do the business side also

The fruit of the tree is a pod that has thousands of seeds inside. Once opened and allowed to spread, these seeds grow thousands of trees. They choke the natural plants and trees of the Everglades, land and water around them.

Yes and have used the products. I like the idea that they are safe around kids and pets and that you do not have to wipe off any chemicals.  I introduced them to my Daughter who has several children with allergies.  Since she started to use Melaleuca her children and herself have had fewer allergy and asthma attacks.  If you want it for a business it is like everything you work at the more time you put in it the better the reward.  My advice if unsure try the products, when you find out how good they are give a few to friends and family as a gift.  Let them know to come to you and you will let them know more on The Wellness Company.  Hope this helps.  I have 21 Grand-children and I would not use anything else.

Having known a couple people who have not only tried Melaleuca, but have tried to sell it as well, i feel Melaleuca is an unsafe product due to wording. There is no way to be sure that they are in fact a safe green alternative other than the wording on their website. where is the product info? the detailed ingredients? why is there no organic certification? anyone can leave the dye out of their products, you know. just because it's "clear" doesn't necessarily means it safe.

If you deny the people the fact and information, then you causea stir. I know for a FACT:

they generalize their ingredients on the label and give no further pamphlets or addition fliers on what exactly is in their cleaners. this is called "greenwashing".

part of the sign up is that you have to commit to a monthly purchase amount of at least $50-70, which is an automatic payment whether you need it or not,  and it doesn't matter if you just buy or just sell.

their is no other certification on their website claiming their goods are as earth friendly and body friendly as they insinuate. "nature-inspired" is not the same as "organic". Downy has "nature-inspired" scents, but they are nowhere near organic or healthy for humans and the earth.

We live in a world where money takes precedent over actual caring for others, so don't always blindly follow everything. ALWAYS do research.

Call it what you may. I too became a customer simply because I wanted green products about 7 years ago, not to make money. Over the years I have referred different people to join as a preferred customer and they buy direct from Melaleuca just like everyone else and you make a little commission for helping market their product, what's wrong with that?

Like others have said so many time, you make of it what you want to. It's up to you to decide what you want to make of it and then it's up to you to take credit for success or failure. The problem, as with so many other things, is people will be quick to take credit for success but often times blame others for failure.

I love the products and I love the prices! If you want to talk with me about the benefits of being a preferred customer I would love to talk to you and if you want to make some extra money I'd be glad to share that with you as well. Just message me or e-mail me.

I have been with Melaleuca for a few years now, and I really like they're products. I've never been able to refer anyone, though. Guess I'm not talking to the right people, and I'm not outgoing enough to be able to talk to total strangers about it. Wish I was, as it would be nice to get some bonuses.

But all that aside, I do like a lot of the products, and I feel they are worth every penny. I take the vitamins and calcium and Replenex for joints. I hardly ever get sick now, and I when I do I recover pretty quickly. The Replenex doesn't seem to work all that well on my osteoarthritis, though, which I was really hoping for. Maybe I'll try the extra strength next time. I've had trouble with my ankle since breaking it in 1987. I love the ultra-concentrated laundry detergent. It really saves me a lot of money, as I need very little of it.

I would call the company similar to an MLM, but a bit different. You only sign people up. You don't take orders, you don't keep inventory. You only deal with people you've referred if you want to help them build a business (which is something I crash and burn at, so I don't do it).

RavenRose683 has brought up some good points, though. To remain a preferred customer, one has to buy $50-$70 worth of products a month (most of the people I know are struggling for money and are not able to make a commitment to spend that much every month, or just can't afford to), otherwise they can still buy as a regular customer, but they'll have to pay more money. The ingredients are generalized on their labels, so you don't know exactly what's in them. They are NOT certified as organic. They claim their products are safe for children and pets, but there are clear warning labels on some of their products (i.e. on the Prespot laundry stain remover, as well as the laundry detergent [probably others, though I haven't looked] it says "Keep out of reach of children. Eye irritant. In case of eye contact, flush with plenty of water. Call physician if irritation persists. If swallowed, drink water and call a physician or local Poison Control Center. Avoid inhalation or prolonged exposure to the skin. Do not mix with bleach or other cleaning agents.").

I'm not trying do downgrade the company, but just pointing out the facts, a couple of which were already touched upon here.

I have been a member of Melaleuca for almost a year.  I order every month, trusting that the products are 100% natural.  I just searched the "bad" ingredients that are in deordarant that you should avoid.  I grabbed my Melaleuca deordarant to compare & to my surprise most of the "bad" ingredients are in my Melaleuca deordarant!!  I am not happy right now & will be finding a true "green" company.  Ingredients in deordarant are causing cancer & I am trying to protect my family any way I can!

There are ingredients on all products and on the website. under product information. I don't sell Melaleuca.  Its like if you like it you recommend it.  All you are doing is changing your store. If you want more info contact me. Thank you.

I agree, the products are exceptional. In fact, the cleaning products have a lasting clean scent and don't irritate breathing passages when being used. If anyone is interested in learning more or ordering, it is my pleasure to assist. Ecogal2@gmail.com

Heya what are those ingrediants?

I'm a cancer survivor so I'm curious.

I unfortunately wouldn't trust product information from people who stand to gain a commission if you buy. There's just a conflict of interest there, even if these products are excellent. Ironically, this means that basically if you want to know about the products, you can't ask anyone who has tried the products.

Is Melaleuca a US thing or do they operate in Europe or the UK?

Hi there, I'm also in Melaleuca and just love their products! I'm located in Canada and they are in Europe as well. You can sign up by referral. info@trulyworkfromhome.com
