Personally I liked Edwards the best, but Obama is pretty good too. He has reasonably good plans to deal with global warming, health care, etc. Hillary's plans are similar, but I don't trust her. She'll say or do anything to get elected, and I don't think she'd hesitate to break her campaign promises. She's just too much of an establishment candidate, too beholden to special interests.
McCain is actually decent for a Republican. However, he's got an absolutely terrible voting record on environmental issues. He received a score of zero on the 2007 National Environmental Scorecard released by the League of Conservation Voters. McCain was the only member of Congress to skip every single crucial environmental vote scored by the organization, posting a score lower than Members of Congress who were out for much of the year due to serious illnesses--and even lower than some who died during the term. By contrast, the average Member of Congress scored a 53 in 2007. McCain posts a lifetime score of only 24. Plus he wants to keep our soldiers in the endless quagmire that is Iraq.

I've been increasing impressed with Barack Obama. Early on, I was happy (enough) with any of the Democratic candidates, but leaned towards Kucinich.
With Obama, I most appreciate his commitment to transparency in government. I am refreshed by his intelligence and clarity.
With Hillary Clinton, I agree with many of her policies, but I sense duplicity in her political machinations.
Personally, I prefer to keep religion out of politics, so I would prefer McCain to Huckabee or Romney or some of the others at the disturbing Republican debates.
I don't think Ralph Nadar is qualified to extricate the US from the quagmire that Bush Co. has caused, and I don't feel sincerity in his motivation to run for president at this time.

I would agree that Nader wouldn't actually be qualified to run the country, but that isn't why his supporters are voting for him in the first place (which I will follow up on), but if you don't believe in his sincerity then you don't understand why he is running at all!
The reason Nader gets so much support isn't because his supporters are disillusioned and believe he can actually win, it's because if enough people defect their vote from a major party, the only way the party can win them back is to adopt Mr Naders platform.
Ralph has worked within the system before and tried to work with former presidents (Carter and then attempted to work with Reagan) and has attempted to work with the democratic hopefuls (Kerry) only to then be shut out, used, or ignored. So he now is waging a personal war against the democratic party, showing them that people want REAL change. Not a slogan, not something "a little" better then bush, but real honest to goodness change.
If you haven't seen it already, check out "An Unreasonable Man". It's a wonderful documentary that really shows why he does what he does, dispels many of the myths around him and shows what he is working towards. The man is truly selfless in my opinion.

Hm, well, from that recommendation, I'll definitely have to put "An Unreasonable Man" on my Netflix queue!
So does his selflessness get your vote, KevinRyanWright?

Well, I have voted for him in the past (2000, and yes, I was one of the jerks who voted for him again in '04). With that said, I have not yet decided if I will vote for him this coming election. Probably not, just because there are some other candidates who I really like right now. I just dislike the misconceptions around Mr Nader. The man has sacrificed much of his own life for the betterment of our society, and he gets ridiculed and labeled an enemy by many simply for going against the democratic platform.
It no wonder so many people are apathetic these days. I'm sure many people on these forums have encountered protest and ridicule from some for pushing greener living, which is completely mental. When others see someone in the public eye who is pushing for things he deeply believes to be true get absolutely torn apart, it will probably make them think twice about supporting the cause for fear they will be labeled a wacko.
Long story short, will I vote for him? I"m not sure. Probably not, but I have the utmost respect for the man.

Yeah I voted for Nader back in 2000 once I was confident Gore would win California. I took a fair amount of heat for it from the 'you Nader voters cost Gore the election' people. Which is stupid, because like I said, Gore won California. Had I lived in Florida, I probably would have held my nose and voted for Gore (who, while I now have some respect for, was a big weenie at the time). Gore lost in 2000 because he ran a bad campaign. It's really annoying that people are blamed for his loss just because we're not happy with the two party system.
