Via TreeHugger - GE Can't Make Wind Turbines Fast Enough

 

"The wind turbine shortage is growing, General Electric has confirmed. The industrial conglomerate said in its conference call with analysts last Friday that the backlog of wind turbines--i.e. orders that have booked but can't ship--has grown to $12 billion. That's up from $11 billion in the fourth quarter and more than twice the size of the backlog in the first quarter a year ago."

 

Great to see such high deman for wind energy, but GE needs to shape up!

Wow - I'm always saying that in capitalism the only thing that's going to drive supply is demand, so we all need to do our part to push for sustainable alternatives, but if 11 BILLION dollars doesn't do it, I don't know what will.

Well I think GM is trying to keep up, but they just underestimated the demand for wind power.  A freaking lot.

 I read this story too.  This is absolutely fantastic!  I'm pretty thrilled that the tide is turning, ever so slowly, towards green energy production.  I wish GE the best of luck in getting this backlog out to the market.  Hopefully this provides an impetus to increase their production capacity.

I was questioning several investment managers at a recent retirement board meeting about how much they are investing in the alt. energy market.  They basically said nil.  I wonder if there are wind turbine companies out there in need of a cash influx that investors for some reason are balking at?  Based on the $12 Billion number above it would be a great investment.
