Martha Stewart Clean - Martha Stewart launches her own line of eco-friendly cleaners

Just noticed that Martha Stewart has launched a brand new green line of cleaning products - Martha Stewart Clean. Being brand new I haven't tried them, but like everything else she does, I'm wondering if these will be perfect too...

I'm headed over to the Clean website see how her products look, then I'll be back with an update. So far I know that they've managed to secure the right to carry the Design for the Environment label. This label is given by the EPA and can be used on products that meet strict positive criteria for human and environmental health.

Wow, I'm back quick because the website is terrible.

  • The line consists of pretty much every cleaner out there it looks like - floor cleaner, laundry detergent, kitchen, etc.
  • There's no full ingredient lists. The product descriptions say things like, "99+% plant and mineral-based (bio-based)" but you can't tell what's actually in them. No MSDS listed either.
  • I can see that the bottles appear to be recyclable.
  • The products are available on Amazon, at Home Depot, and online at the Clean website.

What this stuff has going for it is the Design for the Environment label. The EPA is transparent about their criteria. So if you trust the EPA in total, you're good to go.

I have no clue if they list full on the packaging, but it's a personal pet peeve of mine when companies fail to also do so at the website, so I'm disappointed so far. Hopefully the website is just new and therefore not all the way done, but who knows.

I noticed these the other day when we were at Home Depot. I would have picked them up to check the ingredient list, but we were in a hurry. I'll have to look next time we're there. I'm interested to see the ingredient list. It is so disappointing that they aren't listed on the website.

That would be cool if you did see the ingredients and comment on it Andi. I'm never at Home Depot. Now I'm kind of thinking I should go though, just to see these. It's very disappointing that Stewart didn't think to put them at the website.

I totally agree the ingredients need to be listed. SOOOO annoying. And while on the one hand, this is probably a good step for Martha fans, it annoys me that she will be able most likely to swoop in and take business from smaller companies that have put their businesses on the line with these products long before she ever thought of the idea of green. Just another way for her to increase her income. Oh well.

Hey Lynn :) It's a good step for MS fans yeah but agreed it's kind of lame that she might swoop in. I suppose that's business though. When she launched her flower business, I kept looking for organics but none... Maybe now that she's into green she'll consider that too.
