Favorite green stores

Until about a year ago, Reno didn't have anything where we could pick up eco-friendly products. We got a Whole Foods and a local shop, EcoReno opened.  While I use Whole Foods for food along with the coop, EcoReno (www.goecoreno.com) offers a very informative blog and the owners are a local couple. They do offer a variety of products but I am wondering what other sites people shop for their daily needs?

We don't have too many eco-stores in Lithuania, people think that it's expensive to be eco-friendly.
I myself run an eco-friendly boutique, so that would be rude that my eco-friendly shop is my fave ;)

I recommend ethosource. Go green with office liquidators.

I don't buy too many things online. But honestly Amazon has some pretty good green gear nowadays. I get Preserve toothbrushes in bulk there plus things like soy crayon rocks and some organic treats. Also Tarte is cool for make-up - I love their lip stain. Oh and I'm obsessed with silky soy bars from Evergreen Candleworks. As for everyday stuff, I don't think I buy any of it online. We have local organic grocers here which I like, a Whole Foods (which I never go to), Trader Joes (don't like). I miss Wild Oats like mad. I was seriously bummed when Whole Foods bought them out.

Hmmm, what else. I like a lot of eco-shops for browsing, but I just hate having too much stuff, so I don't buy.

The Runka website was born from a concern that all of us share in preserving the planet. The site provides options for purchasing both practical and exotic products that promote recycling and the use of sustainable materials.

I everyone! I am new here and just wanted to introduce myself and share my favorite eco friendly store! My name is Amber Nestved and I am I stay at home mom to two beautiful and fun loving girls, so having a safe and healthy home is very important to me. I used to shop at Whole Foods but when my husband relocated his employment from FL to PA, we didn't have one close to us. I came across an online store, kind of like a SAMS Club, but online and only eco friendly products. The products are wonderful and very reasonably priced. They pride themselves on word of mouth advertising (has worked for them for 24 years now) but they do have a site where you can get more information or you can contact me and I will give you the info. I do not sell or distribute their products, I just love the company and respect their policies. It is: http://www.livetotalwellness.com/ambern I look forward in getting to know some of you and learning more about others ideas for a green world!

I like the stuff at wwww.planetforward.ca - they have a variety, cheap shipping and you can find coupons online.  I used a Red Flag Deal coupon RFDGREEN45 and got 45% off too

Hi everyone. Those are some great finds! In case any of you are interested, I like shopping for natural and organic makeup and other beauty products at NaturesBasin.com. None of their products contain toxic chemicals and they promote a healthier environment through their production and packaging. I encourage you to check them out.

Hey there NatB10 - welcome to Green Options. I actually like a lot Nature's Basin too but I would still suggest reading the labels there. They carry way better products than say a conventional drugstore, but not perfect products.

For example, Living Nature, a brand they carry a lot of there labels their products organic (but they're not certified), and according to Skin Deep, concerns for ingredients used by this company include Neurotoxicity, Endocrine disruption, Persistence and bioaccumulation, Organ system toxicity (non-reproductive), Multiple, additive exposure sources, Irritation (skin, eyes, or lungs), Enhanced skin absorption, Contamination concerns, Occupational hazards, Biochemical or cellular level changes and more.

No matter where you buy from, you shouldn't assume all their products are 100% toxin free and perfect. Reading labels is a must.

LivingECHO.com

They have everything from eco-friendly cosmetics  and hemp t-shirts to biodiesel conversion kits, and furniture products.  Green companies sign up, and after approval, are able to list their green products.  The site also has an eco news page containing green news stories from a variety of sources, videos, etc.  The products there have a green rating as well.

www.HealthyHome.com

Pretty well established online business with a selection of very good products. They seem to be pretty focused on products that are safe and healthy not just "green". I get my shower filters and some cleaning products from them.

Most likely the least green; I found Publishers Clearing House was the very first place I heard about microfiber cleaning cloths.  I ordered what I thought was 3 (which turned out to be 30).

Convenience and recycling those hundreds of times makes sense.  I did not think that business fell into the 'green' category at first but after thinking about it- they are winners after all (even though I never won that $10 million).
