Something İ ran across today - NOAA Climate Services web site - it has been referred to as a Christmas present for climate geeks.

Commerce Department Proposes Establishment of NOAA Climate Service

New office would target nation’s fast-accelerating climate information needs
NOAA launches www.climate.gov as portal for climate science and services

'The stated mission of the site:  Our goal is for the Portal to become the "go-to" website for NOAA's climate data, products, and services for all users.'

'These initial datasets and products represent only a very small fraction of the climate information available across NOAA. Our longer term goal is to present a broader spectrum of climate information as the project matures.'

Cool site.  They have a little dashboard of various relevant pieces of data (global temperature, atmospheric CO2, solar irradiance, etc.) which reminds me of NASA JPL's climate website.  The climate change dashboard is a little disappointing in that solar irradiance data stops in 1999, for example.  It's not terribly complete.  But they have an internal variability dashboard with various oscillations (Arctic, Pacific, North Atlantic, El Nino, etc.) which is very useful.

Overall a cool site.
