Imagine plowing through the holiday buffet line this year and sampling just a modest amount of food rather than the whole kit-n-kaboodle? I propose becoming a member of the clean plate club rather than gorging and purging the leftovers in the closest garbage can. Yes, it CAN be done...here are a few strategies to fire you up:

How many people in the green community can see the benefit to this? Outside of holiday fiestas, do you make a habit of saving all of your leftover food rather than throwing it away? Is it a green, financial or practical choice for you?

I agree about making less, taking just what you can. You can also contact the America’s Second Harvest Food Bank Locator to find an organization near you that accepts leftover food.

sorry, I just wasn't raised that way. Nothing goes in the trash!  Besides sometimes left overs are better that the original!

I was raised just like you were. My mother's eyes would widen like huge white and brown dishplates if we ever dared contemplating leaving even a pea on our plates. I've frozen so many leftovers that I have to use my body weight against the freezer to close it!
