Fresh water levels have declined significantly in places like Southern California. Hence water conservation is vital. It can be done at home by following simple steps like turning off the faucet when brushing your teeth, taking shorter showers, washing only full loads of laundry, and installing a smart sprinkler controller in the garden. http://j.mp/YFryq has many more tips. Check them and add more to the list!

Thanks for sharing! And if I may add it to your list, waterless car wash. Well, literally, it is not waterless, because they still uses water. But much, much lesser than a regular car wash! About only one pint per vehicle, compare to that used in traditional conveyor.

Hi here are some others. Shorter showers, If its yellow let it mellow if its brown flush it down Contact councils or government departments and remind them of all the Auto flushing urinals out there Don't water plants in the middle of the day. If you don't have dual flush toilet cistern put a brick inside to take up space to save water . Turn dishwasher on only when full Have a pressure reduction device installed. Just on another note make sure your hot water unit is turned up to at least 60 C Under 60 your hot water unit turns into a incubator for bacteria. Here is a good one shower with a friend . Cover swimming pools when not in use. sweep pathway instead of hosing. collect rainwater for gardens , install small rainwater tank and if your going to drink install at least 0.04 micron filter to extract pollutants, fix leaking tap washers and cisterns.

Nice tips you have there... It's nice to know that there are people who really exerts lots of effort just to be involved in water management issues. We should be aware of and follow all water conservation and water shortage rules in effect in our community. Don't just assume --  even if you get your plenty water from a private well -- that you need not observe good water use rules. Every drop counts.  That's why even in our Wind Turbines Community we encourage our members to be involved in such water management issues.
