One problem on the net is that you have never known the connection, if any, between a blogger and what they are writing about. New FTC guidelines should help. Testimonials fall under the same guideline.
We have all seen testimonials praising something generally known as useless - except to the sales people and supplier.
The FTC will require that writers on the Web clearly disclose any freebies or payments they get from companies for reviewing their products. The commission also said advertisers featuring testimonials that claim dramatic results cannot hide behind disclaimers that the results aren't typical.
