Apparently EEStor's Dick Weir rarely grants interviews, and when he does, he usually answers a question or two then hangs up. Somehow an unknown interviewer managed to get a nearly 40 minute phone interview with Weir. The video has been taken down, but the transcript is avaialble here. I think this is the key quote from the whole thing:
So Weir thinks by the end of the year they'll provide a working unit to ZENN. A lot of people are saying the technical details Weir provided in the interview don't make sense. But, at least we should know by the end of the year whether EEStor is revolutionary, or a total bust.

We anticipate being in a production base of proto ... of pre-production units in the fourth quarter this year. I'm already out there putting EESUs together and I'm still in June. So, it looks like I'm a little ahead of schedule. So, it looks like I can certainly meet that schedule. Get ZENN some prototypes here pretty ... I'm sorry. We don't make prototypes. Pre production units by the end of this year.
