In January the Mayor signed onto the Mayor's agreement on climate change, so now we're focused on getting all of the residents of Los Altos involved in lowering our community's footprint. This will include municipal actions, but most important are the changes that need to be made at the household level - better recycling, adjusting thermostats, etc... We need help designing the program (called the Low Carbon Diet) which we'll be promoting to all residents from April, and there are other events and initiatives that you can help with. If you're not in Los Altos, there are many cities (e.g. Menlo Park, Palo Alto, and Mountain View are a few that I know of) with similar initiatives in the bay area, so get involved! For info on the Cool Los Altos efforts and links to similar initiatives in other cities, go to www.coollosaltos.org

I attended a Solar Sunnyvale event not too long ago and it was excellent. The presenter was a local resident who had completed a full PV installation for his home and he walked through the process from an economic and "how-to" perspective...definitely a great program.
I'll try to get to another one soon in Los Altos or elsewhere to see if any of the residents who have gone through an installation already would be willing to share on the site. It's a great program - thanks!
