Mitsubishi Automotive have been putting a lot of effort in EV development for survival as they don't have hybrid technology.

They recently released a small plug-in EV in the market called i-MiEV (sick of seeking i-Something, Lacking of criativity...); basic specifications are as follows.

- Body is based on light motorvehicle (660cc gasoline engine cars, which is very popular in Japan. Believe me, some of them has faster 0-1/4mile dash than Porsche!! It's a new Kamikaze bullet car. Gas milage is also low like 60mpg, but not the fast ones).

- 160km (100 miles) per charge (sort of olympic data); 14 hours @100VAC, 7 hours@200AC for full charge, 30min. with highspeed charger up to 80% full. Practical milage/charge is 80km (50miles) with heater, 100km with air conditioner. 120km with neither at average city drive.

- Mitsubishi plan to sell 1400 of them this year all for corporate use, and taking order from public in this July for April,'10 delivery.

- Price is 5 millon yen (around $55K at today's rate), but Government subsidize approx $18K.

There are a number of small EVs running in Japan for nearly 15 years. Mitsubishi EV
