CREE LED, what a monster (very cool).

I had a chance to test/review a CREE LED today, pretty cool light. A neat concept that I hadn't seen before. Here's my review:

It's a big light though, here are some pics compared to a more standard LED floodlight.

Wow, it's MUNDO compared to the standard flood. I've tried out a couple of different LEDs and had varied success with them. My biggest issue is when you can hear the hum of a fan in the bulb (although that's the worst when it's set up as a table lamp, rather than as a downlight, etc). Did you notice any humming with the CREE LED?

It was a short lived love affair, I only had about 5 minutes with it. Most of that time was spent ogling at its size and color temp. That said, I heard no hum, but it was in a recepticle about 15' high.CREE LED in a standard recepticle

Wow... it's gigantor!!!  It looks like if it was in a recessed can it either:

A)  Would not fit

or

B)  If it fit, it would over-heat due to lack of air circulation - that is a sizeable (MUNDO!) heat sink!!!

Ok - so I had not read the review yet.. LOL!!!

Using it as a replacement for the whole can makes alot more sense - and the design makes more sense as well...  The bulb fitting confused me being there are hard-wire connects in the pic as well.
