A while back I posted an article from October about ZAP! and Detroit Electric teaming up to bring the old original electric model cars back for collectors. But it turns out, that didn't exactly happen.
But now, Detroit Electric, led by former CEO of Lotus Engineering, is teaming up with a Malaysian company called Proton Holdings, and is coming out with a pretty good idea for an EV that will suit the average driver.
It will have 110 mile range, 110 mph max speed, four doors (and even a model with a hatchback). It is predicted for release in Europe and China in first quarter of '10, and in the US in third quarter of '10. The best part, they are projecting a sticker price of around $25K. I think this is a nice concept, I still like the South African Joule the best, but this one is super nice too.
Here is one of the articles.
