Zero Motorcycles to host 24 Hours of Electricross

What is electricross, you ask?  Well, it's like motocross on electric bikes.  But what is 24 Hours of Electricross?  In a nut shell, it's the first endurance event in the world for off-road electric vehilces, hosted by Zero Motorcycles, the makers of the Zero X Electric Dirt Bike and the soon-to-be-released street legal Zero S.  Ten teams will compete - each one riding one electric motorcycle, ATV, or quad - to see who can circle the track the most in 24 hours.  Each team will have a maximum of 13 riders; they'll have two batteries; and they'll relay around the track.  The event is going down in downtown San Jose, CA this weekend from 10 a.m. on April 4th to 10 a.m. on April 5th.  Of course, from the track, there are high-end condos just a stones throw away.  But the beauty (one of the many) of electric vehicles is the quiet, quiet ride.  And to make the event even more eco-tastic, there will be solar chargers available for the batteries during daylight hours.

Looks like part of the event is that the teams will be going for a Guiness World Record.  Pretty exciting!
