What's in your dream eco-home spa? Your ideas may win you a Spa Wrap!

There are a lot of eco-friendly personal care products out there.  But what would you choose to put in an eco-home spa?  Imagine you've got a whole day off to pamper yourself...what would you want? Body wash?  Face cream?  Toner?  Foot scrubbers?  Organic bath salts?  Your imagination is your limit here!

For the next three weeks (until March 24th), post your suggestions here.  The user who posts the BEST eco-home spa suggestions will win a Waffle Weave Spa Wrap (pictured to the right, retail value: $40) from Gilden Tree

So what are you waiting for!  Get creative!

I am still thinking :) But I posted about this in my blog and in some groups on cafemom. So hopefully you get some answers soon :)

I'll take a stab at it!

Hm...in my eco-friendly spa...well, first of all, I would have a beautiful claw foot bathtub (with water drawn from a tankless water heater, of course) and some nice soy candles or something.  I'd also have Zum Bar soap (which I haven't tried but it's clearly gotten some good reviews.  I'd throw in some Deep Steep organic bubble bath, organic cotton towels, and some Shea Terra shea butter.

Jessg's spa sounds great!

My spa would be relatively basic in terms of product. It would include a loofah, a gentle face wash (perhaps the Nurture My Body cleansing milk, to name one), 100% sulfate free DevaCurl No-Poo (shampoo) and DevaCurl One Conditioner.  Of course, if I was really to have a dream spa, it would also include a hot stone massage!

This thread made me think that I could use some pampering, so I started plotting! I am going through the semester from hell and I totally deserve to allocate a whole day in taking care of myself. So, here is a list, that is sort of a note to myself on what I am going to do either during spring break or after the semester ends. Ideally, I would like:

  • Organic cotton towels
  • Beeswax candles with a subtle scent
  • Natural hair brush for exfoliating the skin
  • Comfy slippers
  • Coconut oil as hair mask
  • Non-toxic shampoo (from Earth Science)
  • Natural massage oil and essential oils (I am really tense and plan to do a self massage)
  • Herban plant bar or Pangea Organics shower gel for the shower
  • Body scrub
  • Body wrap
  • Preserve recycled plastic razors
  • Foot soak and scrub (will use the scrub from Gilden Tree)
  • Foot cream (Gilden Tree to the rescue!)
  • Body lotion
  • Nail clippers and files
  • Non-toxic nail polish remover and nail polish (I love my manicures and pedicures!)
  • Eye pillow or mask
  • Essential oils or herbs for face steam
  • Face scrub (Brittanie’s Thyme!)
  • Face mask made of edibles
  • Facial toner (from Pangea Organics)
  • Face cream (from Nurture My Body)
  • I also plan to sip on organic tea throughout!

I am looking forward to this, whenever it happens!

In a perfect world, where money and time impose no restrictions, I would participate in a bi-monthly eco-home spa regime. That being said, I would mix and match the various products below to indulge in my sweet ritual of self-care. =)

Based on popular reviews, personal favorites, and lingering curiosities...

Bath Time!

Deep Steep Bubble Bath -or- EO Bubble Bath in Lavender Scent

Beeswax candles

Hair

Burts Bee's Avocado Butter Pre-Shampoo Hair Treatment

Burt's Bees Very Volumizing Pomegranate and Soy Shampoo & Conditioner

-or-

Miessence Shine Herbal Hair Conditioner

John Masters Organics Honey & Hibiscus Hair Reconstructor

Skin Care

Oracle Organics Body Butter - Renew (lavender)

-or- Shea Terra Organics Shea Butter Body Lotion

Miessence Organics Luxurious Body Powder (Talc Free)

Faerie Made Arnica Balm Muscle Rub

Facial

Eucalyptus oil steam cleanse

-or-

Brittanie's Thyme French Green Clay with White Tea (face mask)

Mychelle Fruit Enzyme Cleanser

-or- Burt's Bees Peach and Willowbark Deep Pore Scrub

Pangea Organics Facial Toner

Nurture My Body Vita C Creme -or- Miessence Probiotic Skin Brightener

Mani/Pedi

Burt's Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Creme

Burt's Bees Peppermint Foot Lotion

Some subtle spa music, green tea, and Green & Black dark chocolate would only add to the whole experience... =) Oooo...and an in-home massage...

Oh wait! But, there is one thing missing!

If only I could get my hands on a Gilden Tree Waffle Weave Spa Wrap...

I love everyone else's spas!

first off my spa would have to be ORGANIC! lol.

i would be happy in a tropical setting, outside in the shade, on a non-humid day. (we don't get many of those here) with organic cotton sheets, organic towels, organic robes, you get it... i want to hear birds chirping in the near distance and the ocean waves, real ones, not a cd.  maybe some steel drums too.

Thanks for your great submissions!  Congrats to Kirbs for winning the spa wrap from Gilden Tree!

Ann Thariani of Gilden Tree recently wrote a fantastic article called "Create A Home Spa - On A Dime!"  Here are her tips on creating the right environment.  But head over to Gilden Tree to read the rest!

Quote:

Choose a room in your house where you will be undisturbed.  Often that’s a bedroom or a bathroom, but make sure you have easy access to water.

If the first rule of real estate is “location, location, location”, the second seems to be “declutter, declutter, declutter.”  Every “thing” in your house talks to you, saying things like, “dust me,” “pay me” or “sort me.”   That’s talking dirty (and not the fun kind) when you’re just trying to relax, so first you must declutter!

Remove everything, and only bring back the things that lift your soul. Natural objects like stones and a green plant are always good.

Next, tackle the furniture.  You need a comfortable chair and a small table to hold supplies if a counter isn’t close, as well as a footstool and a basket to hold soiled towels.

What about lighting?  Do you have a window that offers a view of a green space? Take advantage of it.  Let accent lamps and a tray of twinkling candles help create a soothing mood.

Bring in music with a small CD player.  Escape outside noise with earplugs.

The contest is now closed but keep an eye out for another fun giveaway in a few weeks.
