Regenerative Shocks, a new way to extend Hybrid and Electric Vehicle Range

I ran across this interesting article.  We all know about regenerative breaking that can help re-power your batteries in an electric or hybrid vehicle as you apply the breaks, but now they have come up with regenerative shocks.  These will create power from the vertical movement that your car produces as you drive along.  (Guess those old unmaintained roads will finally have a use :) )  I think these are pretty cool, I hope we never stop being creative!!!

Yeah I'd heard something about that.  Makes sense to use that unnecessary vertical motion to recharge batteries.  The only question is how efficient they are.  Did the article say anything about that?

Oops! I meant to post it too.  The article didn't really have much information, more of an acknowledgement of the possibility...

Not sure if this is the exact same invention (probably is), but some MIT students invented a shock absorber which can improve fuel efficiency up to 10%.

Reminds me of tidal generators, but on a tiny scale.  If meaningful energy / electric current could be captured this way - I'm all for it!!!
