Windmax Green Energy 5 Blade Wind Turbine, 1200W Max/24V, High Output, Hybrid Reviews
Pros: This is one of many small wind generators on the market
Cons: Just another mechanical wind generator
I welcome this type of technology. There is no data available unlike hydro or solar to the actual output under testing conditions. A single sourse for the product does not scare me. But 50 amp mechanical devices do scare me. I do not know this companies plans for installing, service and support. Being 50 amps can kill a unskilled person. Plus this is only one component to the system. No inverter, no batteries. This has got to be a imported product not American Made. This means there will not be parts for the next 10 years. Back in 1980; I was asked to replace a wind generator as far as power goes. It seems back then that the wind generator stopped working. The company went out of business...(read more)
Cons: lack of data makes difficult to evaluate
On the Windmax web site http://greenpower4less.com/index.html there is no power curve shown. The power ratings given are for 26 to 29 mph winds which are a storm condition and seen a very small percentage of the time. Output at the more typical 12 mph wind speeds (if one is lucky as not all locations have that) the output would be virtually nil. The low speed startup is meaningless as at 3 m/s (6.7 mph) there is very little power in the wind to capture. Claims of the advantages of 5 blades vs the usual 3 are not supported by science.
