Pros: Awesome resource packed full of tips for even old school tree huggers
Cons: Can't think of any
I rarely come across green minded books that I totally adore, but WHOLE GREEN CATALOG: 1,000 Best Things for You and The Earth by Michael W. Robbins(Rodale Books) has seriously no cons, well maybe one (see below) so I'm highly suggesting it right off the bat.

My problems with most green books:

Lately a ton of green books have come out that seem to be trying to be hip, use lots of extra stories you don't need, and frankly come off as arrogant. NOT this book. The Whole Green Catalog uses simple examples, easy to follow text, and has no "I'm greener than you" attitude. It just offers great green info.

I also have a problem with finding new info in most green books I read. I've been writing in the green genre for years and living pretty green since my son was born eight years ago. While I'm far from perfect or an expert on all things green, it's hard for me to find a book that offers more NEW green tips and info than old tired green tips I've heard a million times. This book is awesome for green newbies and also excellent for people very experienced with green living. I actually learned a lot of new green stuff that I didn't know before.

BASICS: This is a green book you can browse rather than read chapter by chapter, although, I found myself reading it like a chapter book at times because it’s just that good. The catalog is set up as a guide to living a greener, more sustainable life; packed with over 1,000 well-done photographs and illustrations and so many green tips your head will spin.

The book consists of an excellent forward and intro followed by 20 sections about various green living topics; Cleaning House, Eating Well, Green Power, Smarter Shelter, Ready to Wear, In Motion, GrowingGreens , Bringing it Home, Closing the Circle, Working Green, Natural Beauty, Eco-Technology, Greater Outdoors, Round Trips, Next Generation, Playing Clean, Doing Well & Good, Natural Healing, GreenPet Care, and Green Creativity.

The book itself is made with 100% post-consumer waste materials and as far as I can tell is up to date and offers correct green information for consumers. Many high profile green experts were involved in the making of this catalog too which is cool.

There's also a super slick resource website - The Whole Green Catalog that's easy to find your way around. The site offers sample tips from each and every chapter including links to the products discussed. There’s also a blog, info about the book, and an excellent green glossary.

Overall, I suppose the downside will be that this book will need to be updated every few years because one, new green products are coming out all the time, and two, some of the info may become outdated. Right now though, I highly recommend this book. It's likely one of my top green reads in the last five years.
