Pros: Good Energy Efficiency

Cons: Not Durable

I replaced two TRANE 1986 vintage 2 ton units with two latest energy efficient XL14i 2 ton units in 2004. The old Tranes had run 18 years with only 3 service calls each costing less than $200. Just had a compressor fail on one of  the new XL 14i s in April 2010. Looks like it will cost $850+ in just labor and refrigerant as the compressor is still under warranty. Disappointing that this expensive Trane has only given a life similar to a contractor provided unit. This Trane has stopped short.

Any energy savings (which were hard to detect) will be wiped out with this repair bill
