Cons: Stick Doesn't Last Long, Not Industrial Strength
I would disagree with other reviewers that it only masks the smell. Some of the ingredients have a natural antiseptic effect and will actually suppress the bacteria that create body odor. However, Tom's isn't going to keep you daisy-fresh through a 5 mile jog. Think about it: anything which CAN keep you daisy-fresh through a 5 mile run is probably made of plutonium and other crap that you shouldn't allow near your body. You're not SUPPOSED to smell nice after being on a plane for 30 hours straight. Deodorant is something I have on my skin about 50% of my life. I have been using it for years and I plan to continue. It really matters what's in it, and there is plenty of evidence linking mainstream brand ingredients with Alzheimer's and cancer. Those mainstream brands that stop your sweat and fight odors for multiple days in a row... that stuff is just scary. I mean, hey, why not just paint your underarms with pure mercury and formaldehyde and stop odors permanently!!
I particularly like the "Woodspice" variety of Tom's. It smells great. However I would advise against the "Lemongrass" variety. I like eating lemongrass in Vietnamese food, but for some reason it smells rotten in this deodorant. Most of the time I just use the unscented variety because it's the only I can find easily in stores. You can get it at Trader Joe's for a little less than $5 a stick. I go through a stick every three weeks, approximately. They don't seem to last long.
The feel of it going on is smooth. I prefer not to get it on my hands if I can avoid it. But it isn't chalky or oily. You don't have to fan it dry or anything, either. If you are wet from a shower, you should dry off before applying. If you don't, the deodorant might form suds! By the end of the day the stuff is mostly gone. It doesn't leave a bunch of residue on clothes. It goes on clear and seems to come off clear.
This review is based on the regular deodorant, not the anti-perspirant.
