My girlfriend had this lip balm a while back and it was really no good. By default I used it occassionally but of course I would get some on me when I kissed her. But it was really not my favorite at all because it was very waxy and felt like you had some weird layer on your lips that would just sit there. It smelled ok and cool that its vegan and made with organic ingredients. But I did not enjoy it.
The Merry Hempsters Vegan Hemp Balm Reviews
I'm absolutely in love with this lip balm. The formula is non-greasy, which makes me super happy, because regular chapstick is like applying straight crude oil to my lips, the feeling just isn't right. It soaks into my lips nicely, but still leaves a nice amount on the surface that leaves them feeling protected. The spf is just high enough to make sure my lips don't end up chapped while at the beach or just being out and about. It is a bit pricey, but I would rather pay a bit more for a product that works. I would recommend it to anyone, vegan or not.
Cons: nothing
I love the Merry Hempsters orange organic lip balm. Their lip balm feels great and really moisturizes my lips. I like the natural orange flavor and its great that they use all USDA certified organic organic ingredients. Merry Hempsters organic lip balm feels so much nicer than petroleum based lip balms like Chapstick.
Cons: Really, really waxy and thick
After reading such positive reviews of the Merry Hempsters Organic Lip Balm, I thought I'd give the vegan lip balm a try. Let's talk about the good things first. It's got over 70% organic ingredients and it's vegan. The Mandarin Orange kind is quite nice in terms of its blend of essential oils. It's not overpowering, but it's got a nice aroma.
Now you ask...why the 1.5 star review? I'm pretty disappointed in this lip balm. The major issue is that it's incredibly waxy and doesn't feel like it's absorbing into your lips at all. It just goes on in a thick coat and stays there. Since I've been using it, I can't say my lips feel any more moisturized really...they just feel kind of sticky. I find that I get a little irritated by it too (not skin irritation...mental irritation). I find the stickiness a little bothersome so I end up rubbing my lips together constantly or I rub my finger along my lip to try to get the stuff to...rub in. But it doesn't want to!
I think this stuff might be great if you're out skiing in frigid weather because it will create a good thick barrier between you and the elements. It might not even be so bad if you put it on before you go to sleep (because that way you won't feel it on your lips). But if you plan to put it on in normal conditions during the day, if you plan on eating something with crumbs, or if you plan on kissing someone (as some of it will get on his/her lips/cheek/hand)...I'd steer you in another direction.
Cons: None
