Pros: Soft, long(ish) lasting, great value

Cons: While it's long lasting, doesn't last quite as long as the sandpapery kind i used to get

In an effort to save money and the environment, I used to get the thinnest, least processed-seeming toilet paper. The roll lasts forever, is single ply, and is quite cheap. Last time I went to the store, I decided to get this seventh generation paper (which is frustratingly NOT in the same aisle as the rest of the toilet paper, but is in the special health food aisle at the other end of the store) and was pleasantly surprised at how nice it was. It was soft and fluffy, but still lasted a good while (not as long as the single ply, of course, but you can't have everything). I am completely converted. What I don't understand is why they don't have (at least some of) the paper in the regular toilet paper aisle. It is very competitively priced, and I think way more people would buy it if it were sitting right there next to everything else (though that might be more an issue with Albertson's, not Seventh Generation). Anyway, this paper is highly recommended!

Pros: 100% recycled (80% post-consumer); no chlorine; gets the job done

Cons: not super-soft

Does this paper get the job done? Yes. Does it do so with 100% recycled paper, a significant portion of which (80%) is post-consumer? Yes.

And maybe the (slightly) grainy texture of the paper even encourages me to use less of it. From a global perspective, I know that's a good thing.

But part of me (you can guess which part) does still long for the old days, when I ignorantly used super-soft triple-layered quilted toilet papers.

Seventh Generation, if you're reading this: maybe a "deluxe" version that's both green AND super-soft?

Tip for users: one side is much less grainy than the other. It's worth identifying the softer side!

Pros: recycled content, absorbant

You might think toilet paper is toilet paper. And at the end of the day...as long as it's not sand paper or a leaf, you're probably okay. But this Seventh Gen TP isn't bad at all. It's not the softest of all the toilet papers in the world and if you've got a cold and are blowing your nose quite a bit, you might want to opt for something besides just a roll of this stuff...but when you're in the WC/lavatory/outhouse/etc, it's a solid option. And of course it's 100% recycled content and isn't whitened with scary bleaching stuff.

Pros: thick enough

Cons: not as soft as "regular"

I was a little scared to try this out. When we got it I switched right away. You can tell that it isn't as soft as the "regular" toilet paper but it isn't bad. I think its better than the cheapo brands.
It doesn't have any absorption problems. Meaning that it doesn't soak through when you wipe, YUCK!
I have two kids (12 & 8) and neither has said anything about the change. I think that says a lot. Especially since my daughter always complains about the paper in public restrooms being "gross".
I would buy this product again.

Pros: Durable, easy flush

Cons: It's one ply and some folks don't like one ply; price

I have a confession to make: my son uses a LOT of toilet paper. I've lectured on and on about being environmentally friendly but it seems to go in one ear and out the other. So in an effort to soothe my own conscious, I began buying Seventh Generations 1 ply toilet paper. I find that 1 ply is hard to find, but have to admit that SG's version is gentler on my sensitive areas. Compared to other toilet papers, it is a little pricey - $1.29 per roll or $6.99 for the multi-packs. But my peace of mind is worth a little more, not to mention a better planet, so I buy one roll per week (my family goes through about 3/4 of a roll per week), so I don't notice a big hit in the wallet all at once.

SG does also have an email coupon program, but I do find it's for their newer product promotions and not their sturdy stand-bys.

Pros: green, effective

Cons: cost

This is the best green toilet paper I've found, even down to the packaging. Purchasing by the case gets the cost down to "regular" toilet paper cost, but with the added green awesomeness. Secretly - it's also satisfying how each roll has slightly different textures and look.

Pros: Strong, a lot of sheets per roll

Cons: A little harsh and cost

I liked this a lot, but the price is too much.

Pros: Strong and 2-ply

Cons: Expensive

I am currently trying 3 different recycled toilet tissues.  I can say this is one of my favorites, however I can also say it will probably not win due to it's price, about twice what I used to pay for my un-recycled toilet tissue.

Pros: Softer than many other brands

Cons: Price, location, 2-ply

I have only tried about 4 different brands of recycled toilet paper, but I like this one the best so far. The price is a bit higher than I would like. Also, it is a bit annoying that some stores put all of the 7th gen products in to the same place instead of with other similar products (TP with the other TP). Lastly, since we have decided to take up a nomadic life, we can no longer use 2-ply paper. Our mobile septic (RV) needs 1-ply. So far, the only brand that offers recycled 1-ply (that I have found) is Marcal small steps. They are priced nicely and have coupons in the newspaper.

Pros: recycled, good company

Cons: not 100% post consumer, hard to start roll

not good at all, PC green is better, rolls are so stuck together you can't unroll them, the 2 ply comes apart very easily, shreds all over the floor.

Our paper is whitened with an environmentally safe process never with chlorine bleach. Our Bathroom Tissue is hypo-allergenic, safe for septic systems, ideal for low-flow toilets and contains NO dyes, inks or fragrances. Made from 100% Recycled Chlorine-Free Paper By choosing Seventh Bathroom Tissue, you'll be making an important environmental difference immediately. These paper towels are not whitened with chlorine and are made from 100% recycled paper (80% post-consumer, 20% pre-consumer). Hypo-allergenic, unbleached, fragrance-free, and made without dyes or inks, this tissue paper is safe for septic systems and ideal for low-flow toilets. Post-consumer paper is paper that has been recycled at home or at the office. Buying post-consumer paper helps finish the job you started--of saving the earth's natural resources, including trees, water, and energy. And using products made from post-consumer recycled materials helps reduce the need for virgin wood pulp, which means more trees are left standing. Trees naturally absorb carbon dioxide--a greenhouse gas that's the primary contributor to global warming. In fact, a single tree, over its lifetime, absorbs about one tone of CO2. To put it another way, a ton of recycled paper saves seventeen trees. If every household in the U.S. replaced just one roll of 500 sheet virgin fiber bathroom tissue with 100% recycled ones, we could save 448,000 trees, 1.1 million cubic feet of landfill space (equal to 1,700 full garbage trucks), and 161 million gallons of water, which is a year's supply for 1,270 families of four! About Seventh Generation Seventh Generation offers a complete line of natural household products designed to work as well as their traditional counterparts, but use renewable, non-toxic, phosphate-free, and biodegradable ingredients as often as possible, and are never tested on animals. Seventh Generation products are healthy and safe for the air, the surfaces, the pets, and the people in your home--and for the environment outside of it. Every time you use Seventh Generation products you make a difference by saving natural resources, keeping toxic chemicals out of the environment, and making the world a safer place for this and the next seven generations.
