REI Bullet Bottle Reviews

As many other reviews have noted, the bullet bottle keeps hot drinks hot and cold drinks cold for hours on end.  It's got some great insulation.  My wife and I each got one for christmas - I'm not a coffee drinker, so I usually use it for smoothies in the morning, while she uses it for coffee or tea.  Once I finish my smoothie at work, I wash it out and fill it with water for the rest of the day.

It's also a good tough bottle, you don't have to worry about any potential contaminants from plastics, and it's pretty stylish.  My only complaint is that it's not easy to drink straight from the bottle.  It's really meant as a thermos, and you can either use the cap as a cup or pour the contents into another cup/mug/glass/etc.

Okay; this is a great choice if you need a thermos type beverage storage device.  It is very sturdy and great for traveling.  On a recent trip to a Steelers game in PA, I filled it up with coffee (for after the game of course).  Coffee was still hot after traveling 3.5 hours, then sitting in a freezing car for another 4. 

This thermos looks cool, and keeps drinks hot, but I am not satisfied.  The ink on the REI label bleeds when you try to wash it, and gets the ink all over your hands and sink.  The top has seperated so now the cup/top is just black plastic.

I'm drinking what tastes like fresh coffee right now, but it's actually MORE THAN 8 HOURS OLD!!

Stins was generous enough to share her tasty coffee this morning and I can't believe how warm it still is. I guess I'm used to buying products that don't work all that well, cause I shouldn't be surprised that a thermos is keeping its contents hot, but I'm amazed - this thing is great. Definitely recommend the REI bullet bottle and will be getting one of my own.

This is a great thermos.  It is stainless steel which we all know is the best thing on the market for being non-toxic and non-breakable.  It is light weight, good looking, comes in some rockin' colors and is competitively priced.  I use this thermos to keep my water cold while off on a hike with kids in my Palo Alto preschool and the water, with only two ice cubes, stays perfectly cool even on a hot day in a hot van.  I love this product.  It keeps things equally hot as it does cold.  But I would recommend a dedicated water bottle and a separate, dedicated coffee thermos as the coffee smell lingers inside.

Oh man...I cannot tell you enough how much I love my REI Bullet Bottle.  It's amazing.  I love it.  Why, you ask?  Let me tell you.

Well, first of all, it's made of stainless steel so no leaching plastic for me.  But it also means that it's quite tough.  I've accidentally had it roll from desk to floor a few times, and there's only one slight ding in the cap.  Other than that, it's shipshape.

Second of all, it is like magic.  Literally...it's like magic.  I usually use mine to keep my coffee or tea hot in the mornings on my way to work.  So here's the routine...I get my coffee/tea/hot beverage of choice around 8:30.  Then I hop on the bus for half an hour till I get to work.  Then I sip on my hot beverage for the next few hours.  It stays really hot for hours!  In fact, this very moment, it's 4:25pm and I'm still sipping (hot) tea I bought this morning.  And let me tell you something else!  One day, I didn't finish my tea.  I just left half of it bottled up on my desk.  24 hours after I had gotten the tea poured into my bottle it was still warm.  Seriously...that is magical.

So I know I said I mostly use mine for hot drinks.  Well, one day, I left my bottle with a few small ice cubes and cold water in the car, in the hot sun, for a few hours.  Still cold! 

The other great thing about the bottle is that the outside doesn't get hot or cold, so there's no risk of burning (or freezing) your hand.  And you've also got the lovely option to pour your beverage from bottle to glass (you just partially untwist the little black cap at the top - that way you don't risk spilling all over the place).

Well, I'll stop gushing about this bottle now.  But I just have to say, it really is quite amazing.  And Deej can certainly attest to the many times I've made him put his hand over the steaming mouth of my Bullet Bottle hours after I've come into Huddler HQ (because I like to share my amazement).
