Nature's Herbal Natural Mosquito & Insect Shield
Description:

Nature's Herbal Natural Mosquito & Insect shield is the most powerful long lasting natural protection against Mosquitoes, Black Flies, Horse Flies and other pests. Based on actual research studies at Iowa State University, in which Catnip oil was found to be 10 times more effective than DEET at repelling mosquitoes. Mosquitoes are the main carrier of the West Nile Virus, Yellow Fever, and other dangerous illnesses. In a nutshell this is how it works: Mosquitoes and other insects don’t see you and know you have blood to drink. They have special censors on their bodies (like little hairs) that catch carbon dioxide molecules, THEY SMELL YOU! When you spray yourself with this product containing nepetalactone they smell a plant instead of an animal or human, so they look elsewhere! Natural Mosquito & Insect shield Ingredients 100% Pure Catnip oil (80/90% neptalactone)< 1%, 100% Pure Cornmint oil (neptalactone), 100% Pure Glycerin, 100% Pure Rosemary oil Pennyroyal oil is also known for its ability to repel biting insects, and Vegetable Glycerin allows for easy application and helps keep the repellent on the skin for up to 8 hours. This is a 100% Natural Insect Repellent without the potential dangerous side effects of DEET. Catnip Oil (nepetalactone) Research Information: CHICAGO, August 27, 2001 — American Chemical Society, Scientific American Review - "Researchers report that nepetalactone, the essential oil in catnip that gives the plant its characteristic odor, is about ten times more effective at repelling mosquitoes than DEET — the compound used in most commercial insect repellents. The finding was reported at the 222nd national meeting of the American Chemical Society, the world's largest scientific society, by the same Iowa State University research group that two years ago discovered that catnip also repels cockroaches. Entomologist Chris Peterson, Ph.D., with Joel Coats, Ph.D., and chair of the university's entomology department, led the effort to test catnip's ability to repel mosquitoes. Peterson, a former post-doctoral research associate at the school, is now with the U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service, Wood Products Insects Research Unit, in Starkville, Miss. Peterson says nepetalactone is about 10 times more effective than DEET because it takes about one-tenth as much nepetalactone as DEET to have the same effect. Most commercial insect repellents contain about 5 percent to 25 percent DEET. Presumably, much less catnip oil would be needed in a formulation to have the same level of repellency as a DEET-based repellent" WITHOUT the dangerous side effects of DEET.
