LaRocca Vineyards Organic Wine

Pros: Lush, rich and inviting flavor that doesn't overwhelm

Cons: I'm in Portland, and the vineyard is in Chico!

My fiance and I visited the vineyard and saw for ourselves, how much care goes into the making of this gorgeous wine.  The tasting room, which is just outside Chico, was warm and friendly!  The drive to visit the tasting room is well worth the venture, and I can guess that no one walks away empty handed!  My favorite wine, among all the varieties we sampled is the Barbera.  Lush, fruity, yet never too sweet. This will be the wine served at our evening wedding in May.

LaRocca Vineyards Organic Wine

For Phillip LaRocca, owner and vintner, the character of the wine is absolutely dependent upon the quality of the grape. Growing grapes organically includes using farming methods that nurture the soil, air and water. Through the process of totally excluding the use of chemical fertilizers, herbicides and pesticides, all of LaRocca Vineyards receive organic certification by CCOF. In 1998, California farmers used 215 million pounds of chemicals. Reports filed with California's agricultural authorities list 17 "highly poisonous" insecticides, fungicides and herbicides used in conventional grape production. By totally avoiding any use of chemicals in our grape production, LaRocca Vineyards ensures that no toxic residue effects the purity of our wines. Over 80 additives are used routinely in the winemaking process. The processing of LaRocca's wines, as certified by CCOF, excludes the use of these chemical additives including sulfites. Because the wines are chemical-free, from vine-to-bottle, adds to the drinking pleasure and supports the health of our environment. Available wines include Merlot, Zinfandel, Sparkling Wine, Chenin Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Barbera, Rose Zinfandel, Chardonnay
