Pros: smells good, very moisturizing, absorbs nicely, spreads evenly, doesn't get too hot
Cons: hard to reuse the tin, some danger of spilling as there's no spout on the tin
In the world of massage body candles, I'm a relative newbie. I've only tried the Scandle Body Massage Candle and one of the Good Clean Love Passion Candles. I'm pretty sure I have the Caribbean Rose version which I picked up at Whole Foods (the Indian Spice one smelled a little strong and I think they were out of the Origins one). I think it smells nice, myself. It's not too fragrant or overpoweringly sweet. My boyfriend even likes it (which I think maybe surprised him).
The candle burns really cleanly and the wax gets nice and oily but never too hot. I find that it spreads much better than the Scandle candle and stays more oily even as it cools. I don't feel like I'm getting covered (or covering aforementioned BF) in wax. It's really much more of a moisturizing massage oil. It also absorbs really nicely into my skin so I don't feel the need to wipe myself down or worry about getting it on my clothes or bedding.
In their description, they call it an "aromatic mood setter." It's definitely a mood setter, but be warned that if it's after a long day of work, it might set the mood for sleeping. But that's not always a bad thing. Because then you're well rested for anything (or anyone) you do in the morning.
The tin is definitely reusable but getting the wax out is a little hard (I suppose a scrapper might be useful). The other thing about the tin is just that there's no spout so the pouring of the wax can be a wee bit more hazardous - namely, you get a few more drips down the side of the tin. But that's a small price to pay. I'll definitely be picking up more of these candles. I mean, really? Who doesn't like getting a massage and smelling nice and having moisturized skin? Oh and the whole no soot or toxins thing? Also thumbs up.
