Pros: good introduction to global warming

Cons: some details could have been more accurate

An Inconvenient Truth is a good film and good basic introduction to the science behind global warming.  Gore and his film have taken a lot of heat from people who don't want to believe that humans are causing global warming.  The bottom line is that the fundamental science in the movie is sound.  There were a few details that could have been presented more accurately, for example specifying the timeline over which sea levels are projected to rise, clarifying that Hurricane Katrina was likely strengthened as a consequence of global warming but would have formed anyway, etc.

Nevertheless, most of these points are very nitpicky, and a result of people trying very hard to find flaws in the film because they don't want to believe its message.  However, as I said, the basic science in the film was correct.  It's a good introduction, but I do recommend doing further research into the science of global warming beyond simply watching this film.

Cons: Sometimes exaggerative

I have to say that after watching the movie I was both alarmed and inspired. Al Gore is a man that deserves respect and to see his devotion to the cause is inspiring. That said, when it comes out later that some of the video footage is fake, etc. I was disappointed.

Still, all in all, a fantastic movie that has really galvanized millions of people into believing and taking action. Highly recommended.

Pros: Necessary and informational

Cons: slightly depressing...

Again - I'm a sucker for information, and this DVD is full of it. I really enjoyed this from the standpoint that the information NEEDS to be more common knowledge in our society.

Awareness is the first step to recovery...

Worth watching...and sharing.

I found this to be very informative but the format was rather boring. On the other hand, for a lecture, it was interesting enough to keep me awake. So overall, I think it is a film everyone should watch.

Pros: Thought provoking, informative, educational

Cons: A bit depressing

I think this is the most important movie out there now.  I have had friends and family watch it.  The reactions are the same, stunned.  As well as horrified and angered.  I wish it was required watching for everyone.  I know many people have seen it, but not enough, especially compared to the numbers watching things like American Idol and the like.  I've watched it several times and need to watch it again.  Al Gore is brilliant and passionate, wish we'd had him in the office for the last eight years.  Imagine where we could have been.

An Inconvenient Truth (The Movie)

Director Davis Guggenheim eloquently weaves the science of global warming with Al Gore's personal history and lifelong commitment to reversing the effects of global climate change in the most talked-about documentary of the year. An audience and critical favorite An Inconvenient Truth makes the compelling case that global warming is real man-made and its effects will be cataclysmic if we don't act now. Gore presents a wide array of facts and information in a thoughtful and compelling way: often humorous frequently emotional always fascinating. In the end An Inconvenient Truth accomplishes what all great films should: it leaves the viewer shaken involved and inspired.System Requirements:Run Time: 96 mins Format: DVD MOVIE Genre: DOCUMENTARIES/MISC.
